Good evening from Asaasi Yaa beach resort in Krokrobite, Ghana! I have put together a post from yesterday that is saved on my laptop, but because of poor internet connection I'm not able to get online to post it to the blog. So that may work tomorrow when we go to Cape Coast & Elmina to see the old slave trading forts, to the marketplace, & overnight at One Africa House. Right now I am posting this on Sarah's phone, our SAGE guide.
We had an amazing day of wonderful food, swimming in the ocean, playing in the sand, playing games as a group, & walking into town to see a bit more of the area & some bought a few locally made souvenirs. We started out the morning with an orientation to Ghana, complete with some drumming, learning a local song, & learning some words/phrases in Twi. We ended our day with reflecting on our day, what we are learning, what things are making an impact on us, and talking about our schedule for tomorrow. We ended with prayer before we headed off to our rooms and to bed. Some of the takeaways from the students today include loving how friendly and welcoming the Ghanaian people are, and it being nice to be unplugged & really focusing on where we are and being very present in our interactions. Everyone is happy and healthy!
No photos to add right now since I'm on Sarah's phone. Thanks for your prayers & I'll try to update again sometime soon. ~ Julie
Best wishes to the group, and blessings for what is ahead.
